Great insights here, Tom Kuegler! This in part is why it’s important not to be overly attached to an outcome/goal, because you might change direction along the way.
Case in point. For the longest time I wanted to be a successfully published author. I was really attached to that goal. But along the way I realized it was more that I want to share a message, and to make people think differently, to improve their life. So the exactness of the goal changed as my perspective changed.
I’m sad that I’ve lost my fluency in German. It’s an interesting awareness of just how organic language is. You MUST use it to keep it. You must practice it to grow it.
It’s not high on my list, but one day I might go back to the Goethe Institute and “brush up.”
