I would assume this is something that happens in other “marginalize” communities or groups. We seek out what we hope is the safety of “others like me” and we let our guard down. So when we are judged or criticized within what we thought/hoped was a “safe space” (that concept is a complete fallacy) we are wounded even more because: 1) we let our defences down; 2) we opened up to trusting more, assuming we could, and; 3) we feel even more othered now seemingly unable to below amongst our own.
