Where my “empathy” comes from is the beginning. Meaning, I was using empathy to imagine what Spacey’s life could have been like had he been authentically validated as an out gay man prior to becoming famous, and along his journey to stardom. Very much a “what if” scenario.

I don’t know if we will ever know why Spacey didn’t fully acknowledge what Rapp said. It’s possible he was so drunk or high that he truly doesn’t remember, or he’s suppressed that memory, or he’s a totally corrupt human being.
