What you are sharing on one level, Charles G Woolley, is wisdom and acceptance of things past that you cannot change. But you can see the narrative of the role your father played and how it affected you and the person you became. What choices did you make in life that may have been influenced by the kind of father you had? Most importantly, and beautifully realized, is your witness to your father’s father, and how that influenced him (besides society and religion).
Looking back, and these are simply questions for you that you don’t have to respond to, what qualities did you learn from your father that you value? What qualities have you consciously tried to change?
Thank you for sharing your story about your father.
